A Great Reason to Live in Arizona

These photos are taken straight out of my Canon 5DM2 using the 24-70L lens. Not a bit of editing. Shot in Standard picture mode.

The color was absolutely astounding. I actually ran out the door when I saw the color. 10 minutes before all had looked pretty grey and blah. Love it when this happens, and it's pretty common around here. The colors actually looked this vivid and saturated!

And believe it or not, the sky had already dimmed by the time I shot these, considerably. The first shot is the closest to the brilliance before I managed to snag my camera. When I first saw the scene, the sheets of rain were all bright fushia.

While I'm not wild about the composition (no time to find the perfect spot), I am enamored with the sky.

Well done and I agree. We have some of the most dramatic sunsets and sunrises during the monsoon season.

Great color

Sunsets in Arizona are amazing year round even if you can only find a few clouds. The way the sky lights up in multiple colors is wild. The only thing that sucks is it's still 110 out at night so it's not fun waiting out by your camera for the right light.

I agree Urise, it changes so fast. There are times when it looks like it will be a beautiful sky and nothing, then it is all gray and yucky and then all of the sudden it pops with color.

Yeah, it's insane. I was on South Mountain several weeks ago with a semi cloudy sky and wasn't getting anything but gray clouds and a little orange around the sun. Then the light hit the right angle and the clouds all turned crimson. Stayed that way for a few minutes and then back to nasty. Took a few night shots a little while later and then realized I didn't have a flashlight. So I had to climb down a hill of loose stone using the light from my phone to guide the way.
