Really awesome Jay (every last one of your posted shots is amazing, but the lines in this one stand out for me)!

J. Litton: I love your bird shots. That last one is ultra-sharp and ulta-vibrant!

All: What is your shooting preference with this lens? handheld, monopod, or tripod?

Lovely shot, great colors and exposure for the blacks and whites is great, and that can be tough.

Love the owl pic above too, btw, wonderfully clear and detailed.

And Jay, well, top notch as always.

Concerning using the 500, pretty much always handheld for me as it gives me more freedom to swing it around, as I do. Find having to pivot on a static support limiting in honesty and I find the lens, even with body with grip and extender perfectly handholdable (is that a word?!).

Jay #2621 amazing shot, what are those planes?

J.Litton, superb bird shots, I'm still dithering as to whether I take my 500mm to Florida in October!

Got my rear end wet when I crouched down for the low angle, but it was well worth it for this elusive guy to show his face.

Now those are fantastic. The lighting is, frankly, masterful. Really dramatic. Great shots.

The lighting on the eagle's face in the second image is "golden" dioladetus; some beautiful magic by you!
