Great shot Photophilth. Looks like the car's moving, so I assume you're alongside in another car? That's tack sharp and a cool concept.

Sorry I saw your comment a couple days late!

Actually I use a contraption affectionately known as a "rig" to many automotive photographers. It looks like this:

IMAGE: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7114/7737528054_59a65f9265.jpg
IMAGE LINK: http://www.flickr.com/photos/a_foto/7737528054/ (external link)

and after some editing the final shot is sans pole and any reflections it might have left on the car itself.

like this:

IMAGE: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8143/7709154152_47a2e536ff.jpg
IMAGE LINK: http://www.flickr.com/photos/a_foto/7709154152/ (external link)

I apologize for the non dog related content! never again I swear!

The shot of Gracie is actually two pictures blended together. The first shot is of the car rolling with the rig and the second shot is taken from the rig except the exposure is set for gracie and the car isn't moving (taking from the rig to make post process easier).

In photoshop I edit the rig out in one shot and lay over the gracie shot which is then masked to hide the rest of the non moving car, just showing Gracie in the window. TAA daaa!
