Pretty cool really, I like that a lot! I can't wait to be able to get a shot even half that.

Where did you have to drive to to be able to take it without any light pollution? (I'm close by, is the reason I ask) :)

M8 and M20 (Lagoon and Trifid nebula's)

Shot this the other night with my 7d, 70-200 2.8, and a tripod. No tracking or guiding.

133 light frames @ 200mm
iso 6400, f2.8, 1.6 sec
20 dark
20 bias

Stacked in DSS.

Still need to work on my post processing to bring out more color in the nebulosity.

Not sure if I posted this or not, but I shot this last summer from my bedroom window.

Well done. I'm yet to get anything like this. I'd almost resigned myself that a tracker of some sort is required. Thanks for the gee up and renewed interest.

Thanks! Dark skies really make the difference. It's worth a drive out to nowhere for best results. And stacking is really the only way to get decently sharp narrow field pictures (without a tracker).

I hope that's hanging on your wall! Amazing shot! How long of an exposure?

I was out in the back garden the other evening & thought i'd take a quick snap shot of the sky, just to see what stars would show up whilst being in the middle of a brightly lit town.

Composition sucks but I was surprised to see so much!

They have high ISO and that makes them good for night shots , just not all can afford the $$ . Picture is nice , just too much blue . The Andromeda Galaxie M31 is just below that antenna tip at about 7o'clock . Nice catch .

Dave, looks like you managed to capture the Andromeda Galaxy. Look just to the left and below the antenna. Not bad for a shot taken within the city. ;)
