Got my unit back from Nikon Melville service center , great. NOPE! First of all I personally dropped my unit at their Nikon Melville Service Center for them to 1.) Fix the left focus issues and. 2.)For them to clean the dirty sensor since day one. Now why am I unhappy, when I openned my box my cam was wrapped in a very strudy bubble wrap and as I took it off , THERE WAS MY CAM WRAPPED IN A KITCHEN PLASTIC WRAP LESS THE CAMERA CAP. I left this with them with the camera cap on. There was my sensor exposed with just plastic wrap on. Here is the clincher, upon further inspection I noticed a scratch on my camera. I inspected my unit well prior to the repair and I am sure this scratch wasn't there. Poor quality control from the factory, same quality of service from the service center.

That's disappointing to hear. Did they at least fix the AF issue/clean the sensor?

rick_reno very nice shots. are you using both canon and nikon system? i cant afford to have both so i switched to D800 from 5dMkii. As canon gears prices are going up markIII is £500 more then d800 here in UK

I still have the Canon bodies and some lenses, but haven't had either of the Canon bodies out of the drawer since the D800 got here. i want to get used to those damn wheels. It's happening but it's slow. I still go for the big Canon dial on the back.

How do you like your D800?

Same here i used to have 7D and 5dMKII and i was so used to wheel while looking in view finder i could use " focus button, joystick, and wheel " but on the dark side its bit difficult but getting used it now.

I still wish I had the innards of this D800 camera in a mkIII body :)

It's worth learning though, IQ is astounding.
