The Rumored 3D X? Rumored Specs From CR below..

"Canon EOS-3D X Specifications

46 MP
3.7 frame per second
Dual DIGIC 5+
ISO: (25) 50-6400 (12800)
AF: Same as 1DX
USB 3
CF+SD

Another feature mentioned about the camera is better heat dissipation of the sensor compared to other EOS cameras. Apparently, this results in industry leading low ISO performance."

The Big Megapixel
The rumors are starting to fly with Photokina around the corner. Below is the first spec list of a camera said to be Canon’s big megapixel entry.

Please remember, the “EOS-3D” name has been rumored about since about 2005. With every major photo show, we get lots of mentions of its existence. What I do think is different now, is the “3D” name makes a bit more sense. I think this because the “5D” name is no longer the automatic “big megapixel” camera in the Canon lineup. There is room and separation between a 22mp 5D and a 40mp 3D. My other issue with the “3D” name, is the camera wouldn’t be 3D. However, add the “X” at the end and that should help alleviate any confusion with consumers (believe me, there would be).

Below is a spec list I received today, take it with a large grain of salt as it is a new contact. I’m still on the fence as to whether or not we’ll see another DSLR for Photokina, lots of conflicting information (Thanks Canon).

I hope this pans out. I really like the notion of a professional landscape, architectural, and studio DSLR. A smaller 5D III form-factor with 1DX build quality, UI (like no mode dial), and user customization would be wonderful. A native low ISO of 50 along with a greater than 36MP resolution would also be a great score over the D800. Better DR would be nice bonus, but if I can have a high resolution camera that delivers a super clean low-ISO image I'll be very very happy.

The way Phase One, Leaf and other Digital Back makers rate DR is different than 35mm bodies correct?

I hope this rumour is correct.

46MP, base ISO of 50, improved DR - what's not to like, for a landscape photographer.

It could use more megapixels, though... :p

Alternate version - I'm assuming from same source - too many similarities

16-bit RAW output - nice! Particularly if it suggests that it will have the DR to take advantage of it, to give smoother tone graduation in the lower bits. There's not a single thing I don't like about that camera.

Except that it could use even more resolution :p

And that, if it's announced at Photokina, it may not be available by the start of November, in time for my next big trip.

I can't help but wonder whether this is a real rumour, or just a wishlist...

^+1 Wishlist to boost traffic.

And seems unlikely Canon will suddenly be able to do higher DR than the just released 1dx.

Would love to be wrong, though.

It seems that it was sent to several sites with rumour pages - a 'smaller 1Dx' with 47MP and 50 ISO - sounds far too much like a wish list, and I've seen a lot ;-)a

That and 'no LCD on the back'...

And Canon could hit it out of the park if they are able to maintain a 3K~3.5K price range and don't do something silly like pricing it at +4K.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

These days, not even Leica could get away with releasing a camera without a rear LCD for chimping.

Since this is FF based I'd question Canon if it could pass D800 DR first :).

Why would Canon sell a hierarchically-superior camera (with a vastly smaller user base!) for the same or less price than the 5D III?

To keep the camera in the 5D III price range, the designers/engineers will need to cut corners. I don't want that. I want a no-compromises high MP DSLR that doesn't drop the ball like Nikon did with the D800's Live View system.

[CR1]?

Ok people, let's move, there's nothing to see here...

Think new Canon lenses are overpriced? Lots (and lots) of data will set you free!
