24L II and 50L

thinking of adding these two lenses to my collection next week, if you are currently using this combo, i would love to hear your input

i like to stay with as minimum gear as possible, so i would use the 24 as my wide angle and 50 as standard portrait / everyday lens.

It's an awesome combo. I sometimes prefer using my 17-40 + 50 but they are 2 outstanding lenses that work well together.

the 50L is known for its focus issues, how does your copy behave on your 5D2 ?

My copy has no focus issues when using the center point. When using the outer points, I run into some hit and miss. As for the whole focus shift issue, I have yet to encounter it on my lens.

that happens with my 85L, so im use to that, it is the nature of the beast at f1.2

I have this combo. It is awesome although I have noticed the 50 stays on the body 85% of the time. I originally had the 35, but sold it for the 24 because I had a 1d mkiv and wanted a wide fast prime. I thought it would be too wide going back to full frame, but I was wrong. I shot a wedding with the 24 and 50 combo. 24 on the 5d and 50 on the mkiv. It was great.

^i sold my 35L for the same reason, it wasn't as wide as i wanted it to be

24 + 50 is my go-to walk around combo. They proved a reliable, outstanding duo on my vacation in Italy last year. When I need tele-power, I bring the 70-200, but the primes are on the camera about 85% of the time.

Mine works well. 50 is my fav.

My three fast primes are the 24L, 50L & 85L and I love each one on both bodies. They all have they're little quirks, but you learn them soon enough. No real issues with focussing on 50L, and if there is it's down to me being a doofus! Go ahead and get them both with confidence, they're great lenses.

My most used combo. Absolutely love both and wouldn't be without them.

I have them always with me, plus the 135L and TS-E 17L.

If I had only space for two lenses, in 98% of the cases I would have the 24 and 50 with me. Very versatile combo.
