This is my favorite shot looking north at the Manitou islands in Lake Michigan from Sleeping bear dunes national park. About 20 min from my home. My son and I spent the day hiking and just taking in a beatiful day.

C&C greatly appreciated.

Nice place -- I was there in 2010.

I think technically there's nothing wrong with the photo but I think the foreground could be more interesting -- perhaps if you could take the shot from a lower point of view it'd remove some of the empty space in the sky. (Two cents, obviously... nothing to deduct from your picture.)

I agree with the comment above. Here are a few ideas to try. Try some shots from the beach in Empire for some nice low views at the foot of the dunes. The top of the Empire Bluffs trail, which is just south of Empire has some epic views of the sleeping bear dunes and empire beach below. The views from the Esch Road beach are also impressive. It's also just south of Empire at the foot of the Empire bluffs. Makes for some nice low shots of those dunes.

Nice shot, I live over in Lake Leelanau and travel that area often.

Thanks for the comments guys, they are much appreciated. I agree that the foreground needs more interest and it was not taken from a great vantage point.
MichSt- I am headed back over tomorrow on my day off and was planning to start at North Bar beach :)Was at Esch and Peterson roads three days ago, but didn't have my gear. Hope to spend entire day out that way and take my time to set up and practice as much as I can.

Elija-Thanks, I live on east side of Lake Leelanau. Gotta love this area we are in!

For the record...I'm totally jealous that this is where you get to 'practice'!! This is one of my favorite places on the planet. Hope to be back up there next summer with my fam. Post some more pics if you have the chance!
