Thanks for the replies, the results are not good, in my test the printed matter that i was focusing on also looks like it has jumped (double vision) and with the IS off it as clear. I have been beating myself up because of a lot of soft shots taken on a recent holiday, but a few nights ago I was taking pictures of a mountain fire and I noticed it happening also made the fire look like double vision. could it be because I am using a long exposure? I know you will not get a sharp picture of fire with a long exposure, but i shouldnt get 4 or 5 lines of the same line of light. For the test I did with the printed matter on the wall i did not alter the camera settings from the fire picture settings. I have it mounted on a 60D body and i am using a Slick 700 pro tripod
