Okay, total noob with zero processing skills yet. For a couple weeks I have been going after these two eagles that nest in the Eucalyptus trees at my house. You can't see the nest, but they are always on this one hillside hunting the ground squirrels. I am determined to get THE shot one of these days.
Today I got really close to getting that shot.

It's not perfectly sharp, but I was really excited that both Eagles flew so close to me. They spook really easy.

So close, I cut off a wing! Shot with 70-300 (not L)
I'm sure I will be after them again tomorrow.
Thanks for looking.

You did very well with the eagles. A bit of lightening in PS would really help. That head position in the first is great and it looks like you got good sharp focus on the eye.

I spent 2 minutes in photoshop on your jpg image. Just a bit of Shadow/Highlight adjustment. You could do a whole lot better on the original data.

Thank you for the example. I have LR3 and Elements 10 but I need to learn how to use them.

I will put some effort into learning my Photoshop and LR skills.
Thank you for the push.

Call me silly but I prefer your original shot with no Photoshoping around but a little contrast such what you adjusted, worked. Below, I did the same as you, with the free Google program, Picasa.

Hi, couple of shots of Puffins returning to their nests with sand eels. Taken on Skomer Island off the Welsh coast.

I caught this green heron hanging around a pond a couple of weeks ago and posted a photo of him here. A couple of shots got the guy in flight. The first one is interesting mostly because of the shape of his shadow on the sign he had been using as a perch.
