Hope I'm explaing this right because all of a sudden I'm not seeing the "red" focus points I used to. Not sure if I changed something, and I have checked it out, but not sure.

I see all "red" focal points showing in my viewfinder when I press down on the shutter. I know I can press the AF point selection/Magnify button and then use the M-Fn button to cycle thru. What I'm looking for I used to be able to see Other AF Functions...like a zone one (where it looks like brackets), one where half right or left is only "red" highlighted, etc. But I'm not seeing that anymore and I'm not sure why. In the Setup C.Fn III No 6...I have enabled them all. Should I be seeing them?

The 7D will only show the red in the viewfinder if it detects little light, try using it in a dark area.

I'm talking about changing the focus points to something other than the normal 19 point and being able to move the box around that.

I am using it in a dark area in my room but the red points don't show up.

Have you somehow turned those AF choices off? Not sure what C.Fn III No 6 is as I don't have my camera with me.

I don't remember what this does to focus points, but did you put the AF/MF switch on your lens to manual focusing? Maybe this turns of AF choices... (I don't have my camera with me at the moment to test this.)

It's where you can choose and expand the focul points. They are all checked but I can't see to get anything except the 19 point. Unless one has to be in a different mode to do that?

In green box and CA modes, only all points are available.
You have to go to P or beyond to select yourself.

When in doubt, clear all custom functions. ;) Did you change any of the other functions in Fn IIII?

If he's in green box or CA, he can't even access any custom functions, let alone clear them.

This is true.

But if you are shooting manually, click the Q button to go to the quick control screen. Then go the box that is about the quality setting. use one of the dials(one on back or one on top, doesnt matter) and you can then switch to what you would like.

How would the quality setting help on selecting AF points?

If they are all selected you shouldbe cycling through precision, standard, center+assist, zone and All. From what you are describing you want zone. If you never used it prior it would look like a 9 AF point box.

I found that I can scroll thru all in the green box on the screen. Haven't changed anything else in Functions. I'm using AF.

I'm just curious that when I'm focusing none of my focus points show up in red to tell me that is where I am focusing...it's black. Shouldn't red highlight for a brief moment?

If you're in AI servo, the point(s) won't light up.
