So im sitting here debating about buying this camera from Amazon when I remember a year or so ago I bought a TV from best buy and got 36 months interest free if I signed up for a best buy card.... of course I paid it off in 2 months, so I decided to check their site and they offer the 1dx with 18months interest free! LOL SCORE! But they are out of stock... poop.

What difference does is make if it ships with the firmware vs you installing it?

I only had err80 a few times (always in low light). Shot last night in similar conditions and it worked perfectly.

I can't tell you how happy I am with this body.

I'm over 6000 actuations and have had no Err80. I'll get around to installing this firmware at some point, but no real hurry. And I also don't understand why someone would wait until it's installed from the factory instead of just putting it on yourself.

Just like a new computer, first thing you do is download and install the latest patches and security updates.

i know i know.. laugh all you want, totally irrational and i don't expect anyone else to understand - its just a "thing" -- this will be my first 1-series body and i just want everything to be "right" with it

might go ahead and make the jump today - we'll see how my schedule is - and if amazon has it in stock..

FW updates are actually quite a while after stock in shops, so even if you waited a month you still might get a body with older FW on it, on top of the Recent FW update might even get updated in a weeks time again, not unheard of.

Still impressed with the 1DX despite only playing around at the moment and only 600 ish shots through it so far,i mainly shoot motorsport and have worked my way up from the 20D,40D,1DMKIIN,1DMKII​I,1DMKIV through now to the 1DX.

From my own point of view its strange going full frame after the 1.3 but im getting used to it now but wonderd how some of you were getting on coming from the 1DS for studio work etc or if most have now gone the 5DMKIII route?
