Surely if you want a 4K camera you buy a RED?

I'm assuming you're referring to the Red Scarlet-X which costs almost $20,000 for a workable camera, minus any lenses.

The major compromise is the codec which is AVCHD at 24Mbit 4-2-0 ;)
Canon need to stop crippling features to protect the upper line at this price point

$8,000 firmware. Hopefully someone like magic lantern figures out the code, purchases a ton of 1dx's and re-sells them at $8,000 with the 4k firmware.

it would be nice if the computer chips on these cameras used something like windows where people could run different programs on them

Can't you record 4:2:2 uncompressed to a recorder?

Red is dead after 1Dc comes out, clearly this camera is off the hook. The image and video performance is beyond imagination. I have seen what this camera can do and it is beyond impressive. If I had the money I would buy it in a split of a second, unfortunately it will stay only a dream. Canon, call me give a chance to test this beast :~(
