Just picked up on this as I havent been able to look in much recently (my dad died on Monday 'sort of' unexpectedly). When Osprey's are spotted its usually fleeting as they are passing through.
The one place where they will hang around for a little while is Weir Wood Reservoir. There have been a couple recently but not logged as seen in the last day or so - but that doesnt mean they arent there. So if anyone really wants a reasonable chance of seeing one 'locally' then this is probably one of the best places. Here is the website sightings list:
I have seen and photographed one myself at Burton Mill Pond the year before last but it was an unexpected sighting and only had my 70-200 on as I was out dragonfly hunting. I was fortunate that a real 'birder' was there to confirm thats what it was. He had been out birding, saw 'something' above, skidded to a halt and shot out of his car lol. When he posted the sighting on the web they couldnt quite believe that he saw one there at that particular time of the year, so I had to post my photo for proof lol.
Sorry to hear your news, Linda, if any of us can be of any help don't hesitate to ask.
