While most of you in the U.S. are now back into football, hockey has begun here in earnest as the Junior A, B and WHL camps have all pretty much completed and pre-season games are underway. Here are a few from the first 2 games I have shot so far this year. Enjoy!

Nice shots Chris. Are you mostly shooting through the glass or do you have a spot at centre ice with no glass?

Nice shots, Chris. You have some nice spots to shoot from.

Our Plymouth Whalers (Ontario Hockeay League) had their first exhibition game tonight. The regular season home opener is September 22nd. I hate to wish the summer away, but am looking forward to another hockey season in the OHL.

1,2,6,8 are from stands. Rest are through glass. Up in stands I use my 300f2.8, through glass I use my 70-200f2.8 all with 1D Mk IV. these 2 games were played in our Junior A and WHL rinks, both with good light. I'll be in my dark Junior B barn soon enough!

On occasion I shoot varsity hockey here and am always amazed that shooting through that grubby glass can actually not be that bad. Thanks,

I shoot an AHL team, and our lighting is absolutely horrible. Can't wait for the season to start here.....Sept. 20 is opening of training camp, regular season opener Oct. 20. Seems so far away.

home opener for the North American Hockey League (Jr II) North Division champions is this saturday...

two games then the NAHL showcase in minnesota...

i dont know how much ill be shooting this year because the owner did some absolutely assinine things during the playoffs last year (we had 6 wins the first season, then made the championships, and the Coach/GM was Coach of the Year and he and the office staff were both fired). they then tried to refund my tickets and then 'lost' my ticket application, then told me they had lots of complaints because i was TOO LOUD, cheering for the team (really?)...

anywho, 1960 barn, original HPS or Mercury Vapor lighting...

heres a few of my better shots...

This makes me sad...while I am happy it's football season. The NHL and NHL Players Association are having trouble making a deal and we may be headed for another lockout...I need my hockey!

Great shots as always man.

excellent shots!

I'm going to be doing some this season, AHL; first time!

were you shooting @ F/4 by design to compensate for the glass?

I was shooting f4 by design, because there was enough light at these rinks that I could! Although I probably could have shot f3.2 or 3.5 and dialed down the ISO a bit more.
