Sep 01, 2012 19:39 | #1 Hi all,  I am not overly pleased with the result, but was hoping to get some feedback. The photos were taken with the camera balanced on a rock. I think this is what led to the lack of sharp focus throughout. Do you have any suggestions on compact tripods? Ideal length when closed is around 16-18 inches. Thanks! J.Gunn - Macon, GA, USA

As for the tripod have a look at the Velbon Sherpa 500 series, light but sturdy and can be used low/high level also the legs have multi position.

I've had the most trouble with small leaves in my HDRs.
