I think you completely misinterpreted what I wrote.

No I didn't miss your point... I was in agreement with it :) just adding to the sarcasm... web designer or no web designer... they didn't make the comments or post the pics on Facebook.

Interesting to see he has the same (read WORD FOR WORD) philosophy as http://www.melbourneprofessionalphotographics.com.au/ (external link) Guess Australia is fair game to source material!

A little more Aussie influence on his wedding page script from http://spikeyhedgehog.com.au/wedding-photography-melbourne (external link)

It must be wonderful to have to much great material to use when starting your business :)

I've just done a few runs on DCMA (external link) and it's a good check for text plagarism

Looks like a common thing stealing from the Aussie photographers :P

Happened to a friend of mine at the start of the year. A big studio in US stealing his images.
Pretty sure I made a post on here about it.

I hope you've let them know. This guy seriously need a Take Down Notice, it's difficult enough running a business with honest competition, without having to deal with thieves and liars. Still I'm sure as a good Roman Catholic (from his FB profile) he'll be discussing it with his Priest this morning - which should make him feel OK about it.

I assume he used Google Images or something similar.

http://www.google.com …images/searchbyimage.html (external link)

Oh didn't know that existed thanks!

Who has time to google all their images?

It's just that the question has now been asked 3 times (how the OP identified the theft). I just would have thought that's an important piece of information so that others can similarly protect themselves from fraud.

Yep use google image search - it's quite powerful.

Just found another photographer here:

Thanks to Jo Binski (external link)for the (very) backward compliment of stealing my images.

I had a booth at a bridal show. Before the show started I was walking around talking to the other vendors and I ran into an entire album of my shots.

I emailed the photographer after the event and asked him how he got all of my images and he responded with "Which album was yours?" He only had three albums at his booth. Turned out that 2 out of the 3 were not his.

He had purchased an entire disk of the images from a videographer who had subcontracted me. He paid $400 and created albums from those shots.

What a scum bag. Does anyone have any other methods to combat this other than gratuitous watermarks or legal action?

My approach at the moment is to provide social media with as much info as possible in the hope this drives them underground. I'm not so naive that this will stop it from happening at all but it might help.

Hey OP, how do you search for your photos? Looks like you've caught 2 people now. Is there a special program you're using to find duplicate images on other websites? Or is it just "find similar images" on google? heh

WARNING!: Before commenting that my color correction is horrible, please keep in mind that I am colorblind, and that hasn't stopped me from trying.

Just used the link above someone posted: http://www.google.com …images/searchbyimage.html (external link)

You upload a photo and it churns out the results. I'm sure it's not 100% and there's no way I could check all the images I have online but at least you can do your most used or popular ones.

OP you seriously need to send Gary Fong a note, he is currently on a crusade against this kind of stuff and you could get some serious exposure from all this... You may or may not agree with his business practices but he certainly gets traffic online.
