Yeah for me a big plus with the nikon has been that it has changed my shooting style to a point where I just allow everything to be slightly underexposed in camera which gains me a stop or 2 of shutter speed with little to no expense in terms of noise as long as I am below ISO 800. Above 800 and the pulls are still possible, but you do begin to see a bit of noise. It is just incredible. The really amazing part is that even with heavy handed noise reduction you are still left with images that can easily be printed 8x12 simply because of that huge starting file size.

First off, thanks again to everyone for the comments. If anyone is interested in seeing a video of me editing some d800 files let me know, and if there is enough interest maybe I can throw something together.

a video would be fantastic!

Really impressed by your "art" - no other word does it justice.
And great someone so eloquent and knowledgeable has explained the true value these Sony sensors have.

I was shredded numerous times by experienced togs (I'm not) when I simply stated the truth, namely that (even at the mikey mouse end) my A77's sensor really seemed to to be quite outstanding for its price point.

Your post just proves Canon have about 2 years to get their sensor game sorted out. Or people will convert.
