I did a photo shoot earlier this week and downloaded all the files onto my computer and deleted all but about 20. They paid me $80 for this senior portrait photo shoot, and I turned on my computer just now to find that all of the photos on my computer have been deleted.

What do I do? Is 20 photos even enough for $80? I am stressing out so much...please help...

Also, should I or should I not tell the client about my mishap? I'm not sure if it would make them more understanding about the few photos or just upset them.

Run a file recovery on your card. If you don't have enough good shots offer a re-shoot.

Sorry to hear about the mishap Natalie.

Do you still have all the original images on your flash card? Also, was anything else deleted from your machine? I'm not quite sure how ALL the photos were deleted if you just deleted all but 20 of them. There are a number of UNDELETE untilities out there that can recover you files. Have you checked the trash bin? I would not say anything about the mishap at this point yet; you may be able to save things.

How do I run a file recovery?

The only problem is, that she flew to Hawaii to visit the colleges and asked me to do the shoot. She already left, so a re-shoot would be a problem..

Sorry for the miscommunication, I deleted all but 20 from my SD card after uploading them to the computer. I really have no idea how it happened, I have a new macbook so this whole situation is really strange...
The trash bin is empty, how would I undelete something? There's nothing in my computer to undelete :confused:

I downloaded and tried a whole bunch of them but all of them said that I had to buy the full version after I waited hours for the program to go through all of my files....and each one is about $40. Even the ones that said they were free wouldn't let me download my files without buying the full version.

I actually talked to a friend of mine and he suggested doing the time machine option that Macs have, that restores everything to what it was depending on what time and day you return the computer to. So I'm going to try that...hopefully it works!

I know Sandisk have a file recovery program that comes with their higher end storage cards. I've used it and it's very good.

How did things work out Natalie? I hope Time Machine provided a solution.

The memory card digital image recovery that I have used successfully is "Zero Assumption Recovery";

The image recovery function is completely free. It does only run on Windows, however you may know someone with a Windows computer that could help you.

This. I had a Transcend card that pretty much fried itself. I was pissed at myself for not buying Sandisk like I normally do. So when I purchased a Sandisk card to replace it, I used the included recovery program to recover nearly all photos I lost off of the Transcend.
