don't get a tripod !!! your camera (and one of mine) is SO VERY fast that you w/ NEVER
use it !!! just push the ISO

That's assuming you never want to do HDR or time lapse photography......then a tripod is indispensible.

Not sure if this is the place to post this question. I've been experimenting with my 60D and a Celestron Regal 100F-ED spotting scope. Has anyone else used this scope as for a lens? Below is one of my first pictures of the moon shoot at 67x.

I have 6" and 10" Meade telescopes.....incredible for the moon and other long distance shots. I calculated the 6" scope and figured out it was equivalent to a 1200mm lens.

This is a really good shot. I assume you used the 400mm + 2xTC?

Yup, turned out pretty good considering I'm still a bit of a novice.

^ Real nice shots of that build. My i7 is a couple generations old now I think. I've been itching to upgrade but don't really need to.

Thanks. I didn't NEED to either but my Core 2 Duo was 4 years old. It's a huge performance upgrade while my idle power draw went from 78 watts to 36!

ISO 100, f/4.0, shutterspeed at 1/60.

I've found that if you open these older lenses with this adapter, it really washes out the photos. So I stop it down, up the ISO, and increase the shutter speed to create a balance.

This was shot on a tripod as well. So hopefully this will give those considering this adapter a better idea of what it can and can't do. I think it does a pretty good job for $20. If you have questions as to which one I ordered from Amazon (there are a few) just PM me and I'll make sure you get the right one (price is up now, though :/ ).

Thank you very much. Yeah It seems to work awesome.. If you can, please post here the link. !!

WOW! Does that lens produce that kind of color and contrast or did you "juice" things up a bit? That almost looks like a Kodachrome shot.

And what kind of fruit are we looking at there? ???

I gave this photo very little in the way of editing, slight saturation increase, a little bit of contrast, and unsharp mask. It looked pretty nice straight off the camera, and the reason I took this photo is that I could see the light falling on the tree was great quality. I find my 60D has much richer colours than my 1000D. Thanks for the comments by the way, and the tree is a rowan tree. (external link)
