It was $29 from Newegg yesterday. Not sure if that is still valid today.

Before buying this I read all the info, what I did notice is they do not list Windows XP on the compatible platforms. They list Windows Vista, 7 or MAC OSX, I thought all the newest software was compatible with XP.

It's not compatible with XP ...

I was pretty bummed at first too, but this post by Scott Kelby puts in in perspective

Pretty sure you can install it on two computers. I do not think it will let you run the software on two computers at the same time.

I think I read somewhere that you are allowed to have it on a laptop and desktop, but you can only have one copy running. I'm not sure if this is the honor system, or whether it checks if the same SN is active on two computers.

If I find where I read that, I'll post it up...

Isn't that the "install it on your laptop and desktop but only use one at a time" routine?

It's right here:

http://www.adobe.com …toshop-lightroom/faq.html (external link)

Under "Pricing and availability" > "How many computers are covered by a single license of Lightroom 4? "

Subject to the terms of the software license agreement, the primary user of the computer on which Lightroom is installed may install a second copy of the software for his or her exclusive use on either a portable computer or a home computer, provided that the software is not used on both computers at the same time. Lightroom is sold as multiplatform software, which means it can be installed on either Mac OS X or Windows.

So it sounds like you can have it on two computers but use only one copy at a time.

Not sure if there is a software check or not.

ps. what Jim K said! (Gotta learn to check the recent posts before posting!)
