Stop with the antique 5DII. It can't focus on the side of a barn without center point. ;)

Plus the new full frame answer to Nikon will be around $2000;) So the 5DMKII will be worth dirt soon.

Actually they do make them. They're just not as easy to install as they were in previous Canon models, but it can be done DIY. Or, for a small fee, a repair tech can change one for you. Sadly, now that Jim Lakey has passed away, I don't know if they will continue in business but this does show that it can be done.

Is there a DIY tutorial on how to replace them?

I can't seem to find anything online...

Good news for us poor folk who can only buy dirt :D

Seriously, I can't wait for the mkII to get around $1200. The camera should hold up just as much, if not better than the 1Ds mkII as far as longevity.

Yep, at $1200 the 5d2 would be a great find.

That's inconvenient imo. The process from previous bodies is so simple that Joe Schmoe can do it. ;)

The news is D600 is made in Thailand, which would explain the reduced price.

"Can't be done" or "That's inconvenient..." next you'll say $300 for a #5 with crop lines, installed by a tech, is too expensive... make up your mind will you... ;) ;)

What I'm saying is having to pay someone to change a focus screen is inconvenient. Which means it's a PITA! :p;)

still has to meet some sort of quality control -- seriously doubt things made in thailand fall apart in shipping 99% of the time.

hard drives on the other hand... come with some extra water :)

Oh yeah no doubt, I don't see MIT has "it will fell apart fast". Just Thailand-made is gonna cost less than Japan-made, just to explain the cheaper price. Nothing implies about the quality.

Um...it seems like canons answer to the d600 is to drop the price of the 5diii...which is better than a vaporware 6d if you ask me

Canon should bring the 5D3 price to $2299 to FIGHT D600 !
