One of a series of shots I made of our 99 racing bronze MX5, at Alport Height, a couple of days prior to part exchanging for our current MkIII.

C & C welcome.

Thanks for looking.

Gear still the same. Wife drops in now and again though .

I think that car looks really good, why did you exchange it?

Thanks,

The car had always struggled to make the UK emissions regs, occasionally a problem with the 1.8. Rebuilt the engine a couple of years ago, then did the usual welding on the rear sills/wheel arch area. Put a second hand cat on last year just to make emissions again. So reluctantly decided to cut our losses. Our local Mazda dealer were willing to give me what I asked for the car in part exchange for a MKIII.

In the end we paid exactly the same for our four year old 14,000 mile MKIII 2.0i Sport last year as we did for our three year old 32,000 mile 1.8i poverty spec car in 2002. Plus all the goodies we had put on were removed and sold separately. Hard top and style bar left.

That's a nice clean location & the car looks OK. Wish you'd shot some later & used the light on the horizon to put some highlights in the side, though.

I had a silver Mk II - I still kind of miss it, actually. Traded it in when I bought my MINI Cooper S, and it's a fun car too, but not nearly as toss-able as that Miata :-)

I'm mainly here for the snacks

Thought I'd miss the mkII more than I do. I guess it's because I'm really enjoying the mkIII:D.
