I'm no expert, but it looks pretty dark to me. For a psychiatrist picture, it's kind of moody and depressing. I'd make it bright and inviting.

I like it as a picture but for that it may be a bit dark. Saying that though, if I was a teen I would think he looked pretty cool.

He reminds me of a more grizzly russell howard! (UK comedian)

Looks like a head shot for an entertainer.

Attract potential clients?
Well, if I was looking at a doctor's website, I would pass. He doesn't look professional.

I'd have to agree with the rest - a nice photo, but not inviting (which is what I would be looking for if looking for a doctor). Based on the photo alone, I would want to share any thoughts with the subject. Like the shot otherwise.

It's a decent photo for someone who is not a Doctor looking for a headshot for his website, heck it would be a good shot for an actor starring in an X-files or serial-murderer television series (it has the feel), but for a Doctor's office.... nahh.

First off, my Doctor better be clean shaven, it conveys professionalism (Doctors shouldn't try to be "Hollywood sexy"). Then, a lighter background, something warmer, comforting. The lighting shouldn't be so harsh-ish.

Again, the photo is a good one, but for a Doctor, maybe you should try another shot.

I'm a doctor, and that pic its more in line with a magician, a singer, etc.
Make sure he wears a white coat or a nice suit. Then you will have what you are looking for.

this is what I would use for a doctors headshot. Clean, simple, and shows the person in the environment. I would doubt a doctor works in a dark/black office.

I agree complete. It's a nice head shot, but he's not the psychiatrist I would select based on this shot. He looks more like he's ready to go clubbing than to help someone with their problems.

Yeah, his eyes also look like they are going to tunnel into my brain. Definitely doesn't match the application. :)

to be honest. i would never go see a guy that looks like he is a psychopath.
its very dark and moody and the pupils are a little large . just my opinion .
half way down the thread someone posted a photo of a doctor. thats a better choice. change your lighting and you should be good to go
