So only 1 SD card, not dual option, got rid of the amazing joystick in the back?! Really Canon? Massive fail.

the joystick was a massively moronic way to negotiate, honestly.

5D3 and a few lens
es.

What have they improved exactly? Slightly higher FPS, by about 1 frame. Better ISO due to new processor and smaller resolution sensor. And SD card instead of CF. On wait the new AF right?!

Yes, the low light sensitivity autofocus, for low light it's the best autofocus system Canon has as no other camera has any point with -3 EV sensitivity.
Canon's delivered pretty much what I expected they would, a replacement for the 5D mark ii with overall similar specs with a few improvements, can't complain.
This camera was not made for 5D Mark II users, the Mark III is the 5D upgrade. The 6D was made for crop camera users as a cheap entry point into full frame. And for that purpose it's a great camera.

The 5D mk II is actually a better camera at a lower price. With the 6D I will have to buy a bunch of ND filters for my fast lenses to be able to shoot in broad day light because of the 1/4000s shutter speed then I will have to buy SD cards while it still has a similarly crappy AF system as the 5D II. Thank you very much!

How often do you shoot above 1/4000? As for the "crappy" AF system I prefer to wait until people start testing it and actually use it before I make any assumptions. Everyone seems too eager to condemn the D6. Its meant to fit into a specific market niche. For those that feel its inadequate and want more there is the 5D III which is available for the additional cost about equal to a single L lens. Why is everyone upset. If the 6D had everything everyone wanted it would cost as much as the mark III and screw up their entire lineup. Let's see how it actually performs. There is plenty of time to be annoyed later if the IQ and features are subpar.

Well technically we haven't seen the new AF performance yet... I'm not holding my breath for anything amazing though! The centre point sensitivity at -3 EV is about all they are throwing us.

I guess Im just not on board with the direction Canon decided to take with the 6D. Im not in the market for a new camera by any means, but merely sharing my opinions on the new release.

I understand but, you come into the Nikon thread talking about the D600. There are many like you who have a dilemma. ;)

6d is a sad offering. Unless the sensor has some amazing dynamic range or something (fat chance).

All it would have taken to make this a great body was:
1. Flip screen.
2. All 11 points cross type. Or use a modified 7d 19 point cross type AF, either one.
3. Dual sd.
4. Super good price.

What a missed opportunity. If they wanted to give it so mediocre specs, they should have made the sensor a knock out, make it more MP, something... :\

Nah I'm very happy with my 5D2 ;) Not sure when I will have the money to upgrade my camera. Even then the 5D3 is on my list.

I'm happy with my 5d2 as well. I don't see anything on the 6d that would remotely make me want to switch.

It's only at the center point. Back to the focus recomposing game. ;)

Agreed. This is where D600 slaps it in the face with 39 AF points and AF at f8. Something the current 1D X can't do. :)

What were you expecting for this price??? You do realise right that full frame costs a lot more to manufacture, and they had to save money some where.
Rather than giving it a Rebel autofocus system with 9 cross types, they decided to go with a low light sensitivity centre cross type, which will be more useful for some people.

However only the centre ones are crosstype, so with the D600 you're also back to focus recomposing game.

I mean, the used market for 5d2's are at 1500+ so I'm assuming the 6D used is going to drop more than half in price once used? I can't see the fact it's a newer production make it worth more than the 5D2 used.

And this based off what? Out of 11 AF points only 1 is cross type, and its located in the center again. Only the middle is sensitive to f/2.8. Until reviews come out talking more about the "new" AF then we can judge if its really all that better over the previous out going model. I have been able to focus great in low light with my 5D2 and center point.

No...have you even use a camera with that AF module? ;)

I smell marketing BS right there. 5D3/1DX and D800/D4 can only do -2EV, there is no way 6D will be better than those camera

I really can't understand why this camera has 11 AF points with only one cross type and the 650D has 9 points ALL cross type!

someone please explain me how can a $2000 camera have a crappier AF system then a $950 released EARLIER.

The D600's 9 cross type points are all in the middle, if you;re in a situation where only the cross type points are grabbing your focus then you are back to focus\recompose. As it's based on the D7000 the points aren't exactly well spread either.
