I dunno, I think I finally made up my mind, Definitely waiting to hear more on the 6D and see more samples...it looks like a great body I'm just not sure its the body for me ... I'm not feeling that "gut" feeling with it like i did on my 7D.. My gut is usually good... My -gut- is saying the 5D Mark III is probubly worth the extra money for me... Even if it means waiting a while for it

My gut says I should get a 35mm f/1.4 and enjoy it on my 7D... and Im thinking nowone here is going to argue thats a good option

I am.

Does the 35L have wifi or a touch screen?

No.

Bad choice.

I am well and truly embarrassed as a Canon user.

While being one of the funniest comments I've ever read on POTN (and there have been some doozies) - at the same time it's pathetically sad.

But really not surprising in the least.

I haven't logged onto POTN in a while, (got sick of the word "upgrading") but was checking my email and got a notification from Adorama today announcing this new 6D camera. So it got me curious enough to see what kind of frenzy would be going on here, and it's exactly as I expected...same nonsense as we've seen whenever Canon announces a new EOS camera.

Gee, it's not perfect! What a shock.....

It's still better than any 35mm camera at any price level the world had ever seen up until just a very few short years ago. And almost 100% sure to be more capable than anyone who is likely to buy one.

Wow, what a nice picture! You must have a really great camera!

Nope, its probably a decent camera but... (as per someone else)

Its the camera that will just wind every other canon user up.

Upgrading - you get poorer AF.

Just bought a 5d3 or 1dx? Spent $1000 on wifi and gps? here a cheap body has it free.

Canon will sell a ton of these though.

@Delija I somewhat agree, and I think it's emphasized because of your signature ;)

I think of the 6D as more of a belly flop. It's highest shutter speed is 1/4000??? what's up with that..?
Don't like its rear controls at all, surprised that its capable ISO is equal to that of the 5DIII...AF Points are a REAL disappointment... I'm happy with my 5D III its coming this week and I don't even have it yet.. I feel many will buy the 6D and wish they bought a 5DII

Sounds like someone who knows nothing about D600 ;)

I never demand perfect as this camera is not what I want anyway. But compare this to its main rival I think it really falls short on things that actually matters

Some people treat their camera as a tool and careless about the brand. I actually feel passionate and proud about the brand I choose to stick with and with that I am worried about Canon and its decision.

Fact - One only feels embarrassed if he/she actually cares and give a damn...

1/180 flash sync is the only really big fail I can fault the 6D with. What is so hard about 1/250, honestly? Nikon has has 1/250 and any AF point spot metering on virtually every digital body. :\

I guess we can look at it this way:

Canon was king of the hill for a while with the breakthrough of video on DSLRs for a few years,

Now it's Nikon's turn to be on top for a little while,

and in a couple years Canon will be on top again.

The cycle continues. :)

So what exactly does a 5D2 offer that the 6D doesn't on paper?

A few mp
100% vs 97% VF (non-issue despite all the moaning going on about it)
Poorer AF (on 5D2, again on paper - we don't know how much better the 6D will end up being)
Joystick
CF Card

Joystick and CF Card are worth it for me. I have 5Dc(along with some 7Ds) and feel like the MKII would still be an upgrade. I made a typo as well... I meant wait for the used 5D MKIII to come down a bit and grab one. I use the 5D for people shows and crazier panning work that requires a wide angle look. So 17-40 on the 5D works quite well.

And as to the actual AF I am sure it will actually be just fine. My gripe is why create a new system and only give it one cross type when there were previous systems that are now 'outdated' that they could apply? It seems silly.

If I can track and shoot a panning shot at 1/5th of a second on a white car at IMS front straight using a 5Dc... I am sure the 6D and 5D MKII can...

"The camera's Silent shutter mode--which debuted in the 5D Mark III--certainly impressed us. We could barely hear the shutter sound during shutter release."

Excellent! that is worth a good 300$ in my book! Light weight, good low light performance, silent shutter... a dream for the streets!

So long and thanks for all the fish
