To be honest, I couldn't be bothered posting more photos, many of the comments bashing the images are not encouraging.

Happens with every new body or lens. Only a select few buy the newest and best. They post a few samples, which may not necessarily be the most stellar images. People bash the new product as not worth it. Product owner goes on to enjoy new product in silence without posting images. I really don't post anymore for that reason too. There was WAY too much of this in the 1DX thread recently, and looks like it's happening here too. More pics will come as more people receive the lens. Allow the others to continue bashing. It doesn't diminish the quality of your lens or mine.

It was quite bad in the 5D3 thread as well when new... People wanted to see the performance (high ISO for example), but criticized when the image was something a basement and not the most "artistic". Not everybody has a mountain range in their backyard to take sample images, nor the best weather all the time (like NE Ohio!).

I like the simple test shots, myself!

So any information on the possible zoom creep of this lens? Nonexistent?

yes the center is extremely sharp but I can not see any different in corner sharpness at 24mm

at 70mm it actually looks softer than the older version

http://www.the-digital-picture.com …omp=0&FLIComp=4&APIComp=0 (external link)

My 24-70L v1 made in 2009 is very sharp even wide open and the AF is accurate and consistent even on the 5D mkII and I have a hard time believing the new version is that much better unless bokeh fringing is almost non existent I don't see a reason to upgrade.

It's not bashing. Just not impressed. ;) For $2300.00 this lens should shine. I guess it will vary from user to user. :/

C'mon people really? Only three people have this lens? This has got to be the lamest start to a an archive thread I have ever seen. One of the pics isn't even from the right lens! Show me the WOW people!

Don't be discouraged. I personally am interested in seeing a variety if images testing this lens out. The conversation in a photo archive thread is seriously discouraging. We've come to open lens archive threads to look at a mass of images taken with a lens we're coveting or researching before buying. Here we are on page 10 and I'd be surprised if two dozen images have been posted.

Challenge for you - choose one interesting object and shoot it from every angle, variety of focal lengths, apertures & lighting and post the best 5 in full width permitted. I'd be interested to see what images you can create with this new hot lens!! ;-)a

As somebody said above, not bashing, just not impressed. I'm not looking for a creative, artistic pic to impress me. I'd rather have a boring image that shows some telling characteristic of the lens. I'm actually hoping this lens is amazing and on par with the improvements seen in the 70-200mkII. I think the most telling photos will be the direct image comparisons from users who own both the old and new lens. A few more professional, un-biased reviews will help also.

If we keep pushing and provoking people to rush out and take hasty photos....and then condemn those shots as being cr*p...what do you expect? I wouldn't want to post any picture on this thread at the moment with the ravenous hoards of commentators here....so lets take a chill pill and try to promote a creative vibe and let the great shots flow naturally. Less pressure guys and be more supportive of people's efforts. People are here in their free time and lets allow people some space. Other wise this forum falls down the DPR pit of angst, fire and despondency.
