I can definitely vouch for the usefulness of the tracker, it e-mails you within seconds of something being in stock and it's helped me snag many refurbished items during these sales.

I'm trying to figure out this CPW tracker. It's giving me alerts for used lenses from all dealers when I just want to get the Canon refurb alert. Also, it says you can get a alert for when the sale starts, but I don't see that option.

You can't select which refurbs/used alerts you get for a particular lens - you get them all or none of them for that lens.

With the Canon refurb sales, if they are in stock when the refurb sale pricing goes into effect then just buy it right away - I'm not sure of the exact time of day, but searching the archives here should indicate whether it is typically 12midnight or 9am ET or whatever. The CPW alerts system may not trigger at that point, so you have to manually monitor.

The value of the refurb alert is that usually they are not in stock when the refurb sale starts (magically the stockroom is emptied...) and they get refreshed over the next few days - that's when you'll get notified, because the refurn is "back in stock".

Last sale, I got an e-mail at 12:02 AM ET that the refurb price had dropped on the item I was looking for, so I believe that sales start at 12 midnight. (And also, the CPW alerts system does seem to trigger on the price drop.)

Ah, yes, that's why you get the alerts right away when the sale starts - the price drop. Good point!
