This is what I'm really looking forward to. Maybe at a couple different apertures (like 2.8 and 4) and at both 24 and 70mm, and perhaps a subject/scene that can show edge sharpness? Maybe? lol :D

I will see what I can do. I will post them to my photo site and put a link here on this thread. I will try to upload both RAW and JPEG shots of the same photo. The only issue will be finding a victim :D to shoot on short notice but do have a few options at this point.....Lens is out on truck for delivery :D :D

The one thing that sort of surprised me was the accuracy of the AF. Every single shot was spot on from what I could tell. Of course the 5D3 could have had something to do with this, but I expected to miss focus at least once out of the 30 or so pics that I snapped...but not the case.

It's the camera - lens combination.

I tested mine with FoCal software.
At 24mm it scored 99.7% (percentage of time it nails focus)
At 70mm it scored 98.9%
I tested with a 5D3, may be it does AF better than some, but I can also tell you the lens does play a big part, the 50 1.8 showed much poorer reliability on the same camera.

Hope this is not off topic, but I just got the 5D3 and my 50L focuses much better on it than my 1DIV. I think it is the camera for sure.

Having both the MKI and the MKII i can say the weight difference is there but it is not substantial. The MKII is still a heavy lens

Heres a shot taken at Blenheim Palace. The stone ball on the right shows a little distortion but otherwise I have been very pleased with the one hundred or so shots I've come home with.

To get the image below the 150 KB the site will accept I've had to be pretty harsh with the quality. You will just have to trust me that the original TIFF jumps out of the screen.

Kind of worried I may of screwed myself on this delivery... This morning after the lens already went out for delivery I tried to have them re-route to local facility for pickup... Right after I did that I called (once I found out my brother would be home) and talked to a rep that said they will attempt delivery today and if nobody home, they will arrange for pickup. They also said they would try after 1pm when I am home and the driver was contacted.

Well since it's overnight, its due by 3pm... Already 2:40pm and no sign of it. Tracking says "Hold at FedEx location request received" at 1:30pm. I called again and they said its on the truck and they are supposed to attempt delivery today... So we can hope...

Just kind of worried I may of screwed myself with this... I hope not! If they don't try today I won't have until Monday :(
