I wasn't sure if I was going to like this. I did a little HDR to it with Machinery and played around with the color saturation a bit.

It kind of reminds me of those old Yes album covers.

I like the processing. Not too crazy about the background as it makes for a really busy image. It would be great with a different background and the building would be a great shot all by itself.

I do have a cool shot of the building too. I'll have to work on that. Maybe next time I'll bring my 50mm 1.4 and try and blur that BG a bit. I was shooting at f/5.6 or maybe f/8 for this one.

If this had been shot at even 1.2,the colors of the background would still be there as a distraction. Need a different background.

Swing around to the right or left and get the building out of the frame.

It's in the middle of a little square surrounded by buildings. There are buildings all around. This was the most interesting location and the light was hitting it right also from this direction.

This shot I was standing directly on the other side of where I shot that first one I posted.

And this one is a little to the left of the first one I posted...

If I may add a different perspective, I actually really like the interesting building as a backdrop to the fountain. It makes it look more than just some fountain in the middle of a plaza.

I actually find the grey sky to the left of the building to be most distracting in such a vivid and colorful photo. I would have angled my composition to not include any sky, just fountain and building.

Looks great!

That's another thing I plan on doing next time I am out that way at 7:00 at night. :) I want to get the whole name of the town on the building in there too.

Thanks! :)

I see what you're saying, but...

I think that the background ($*** painted onto walls) is sort of what makes the processing work. Normally I don't like that sort of unrealistic/hyperrealistic processing, but here it at least makes sense since it's playing off of a painting (something that isn't photorealistic at all).

I agree that the background is distracting and too busy. But I also normally hate this kind of processing, and this is a very good instance which is like the exception for me, in which I think it actually works and makes sense.

But yes...it does revolve around the background, I think. I feel like the background is what makes the unrealistic processing work, and yet at the same time I also feel like the background is what's killing the image by just being too busy and merging too much with the fountain in the foreground.

Just my 2 cents, and I'm probably wrong, but that's the impression that I get.

I like your HDR but I'd straighten the building wall on the left.

Here's another attempt from this morning. I had to use a flash because it was overcast this morning.

I kind of like the lighting in this one. Not as warm as the first one...

In the last picture, you lost the front of the train and car and also part of the founder's name. Keep looking for that sweet spot that can grab everything. Fun shot.
