So this 35mm will hasten the new 35L... nice...

Think new Canon lenses are overpriced? Lots (and lots) of data will set you free!

Whoa! Cant wait for this one! I love my 50 1.4 but have been yearning for the 35L.

it probably won't be as good as the 35L but probably a lot cheaper

Meh, I feel like the 50 and 85 are on par with the L lenses.

I'm sold. I have the 85mm and love it. I was just about to buy a local 35L but this just became high on my list. All I need to know is how much and when?

I'll be interested in seeing how this new technology works.

I've had pretty bad luck with even L primes with missing focus.

I agree that I hope this tech works and spreads.

So does anyone have any insight on when announcements like this are made how long it usually is before the item is available? I mean are we talking by Christmas or next year sometime?

Doesn't sound promising...

Aren't time machines a bit expensive?

Assuming my googling went correctly...

Sigma 30 was 8 months from announcement to release (Feb 2005 - October 2005)
Sigma 50 was 3 months from announcement to release (March 2008 - June 2008)
Sigma 85 was 8 months from announcement to release (Feb 2010 - October 2010)

So 3-8 months. Not too helpful, heh.

I love competition. So glad to see that the companies agree that lenses are the limiting factor in resolution.
