That's good to know, I've been trying to work out if 24 can be a replacement as I can't afford to keep both. I'm worried ill miss 17mm though

I saw your post in the 24 TS-E mk2 thread, and to be honest (for me) ever since I got the 24mm f/1.4L II, I haven't been wanting to use the 24L TS-E mk1 or the 17-40L. I love that it is AF, sharp wide open at f/1.4, and buld feels great. I've been thinking about trying to sell or trade my TS-E for a 45mm or 90mm TS-E instead. I still love having TS-E, but I don't want to have a lens I wont use. I'd vote 24mm f/1.4L II

what I like especially about this is the light on the centre waves, nice use of vignetting, thats what makes it:D

Thanks very much. It took a little editing. One exposure for the foreground/sea & another for the sky. The water also needed some work as although it's a nice location in this estuary where we live the water is known for being very 'muddy'

The ACTUAL exposure can be calculated in the brain or using a helpful App on the phone based on the standard/non filter exposure reading.

If you mean for the actual look/finished image then experience will tell you that :) In general a longer shutter speed will give you smoother water or more cloud movement etc so just go out & experiment with different shutter speeds & have fun :)

If you google a bit on '10 stops exposure conversion', you'll end up with tables like these:
http://www.flickr.com …an76/4440416905/lightbox/ (external link)
http://palavraentrepalavras.blogspot.nl …sure-quick-reference.html (external link)
http://www.waynesphotos.co.uk …ser-guide-exposure-table/ (external link)

If you print the one you like you should be able to lookup the needed exposure time, given that you know how to set the exposure without the filter.

This is what I'd typically do when shooting with a 10 stops filter:
