The same reason why I only buy Sandisk with the retail box from well known retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, BH Photo, or Adoroma because there are so many fake ones around.

Ritz (Wolf, Camera World etc...) was a well known and respected(?)national retailer 6 years ago. Certainly more respected in Cameras than Best Buy.

Camera Canada (aka Forest City Imaging Centre) is about as big as you get around here...

^Those retailers I mentioned were just an example; of course, they are plenty more well known ones. But regarding the fake cards, did both of you get the cards with retail packaging or the "bulk" cards "without retail packaging"? I've run into the fake cards before when buying on Amazon through third party labeled as "bulk" cards without retail packaging, and those didn't last long.

Full sealed retail packaging with a hologram, registered Rescue disk for image recovery inside with a valid serial number. If it was a fake I don't know how they did it. Wasted many hours with Sandisk and don't believe for a second that it was a fake card. Asked how they made fake determination and they wouldn't tell me. Go figure. I'm just one customer.

I've used two is these exact cards that I got at Frys for like $30 almost a year ago. I normally only use Sandisk but in this case I needed 16GB cards for a timelapse, and these were the cheapest at the time. Since then, they've made their way into my permanent card rotation and I've had no problems whatsoever.

I'll be order a couple more - since they're a known commodity to me now and since they're so cheap!

Thanks for the deal OP. Bought a couple of them just to keep in the bag as backups. I'll be sure to run a few files fill & dumps as an usb drive just to make sure there are no issues.

I have use Sandisk for years and if one card failed me ....well stuff does go bad and I would just get a new Sandisk card

I do understand that lost data can be devastating depending on the circumsatnce. I am not jumping ship based on one issue though.

Nikon D850 and a bunch of stuff, I have learned a lot here when I was shooting Canon, staying to keep learning..."Every time I set up I learn something new".

Good brand name. First time trying. Great price!!!

Howdy PFJ,

Thanks for the heads-up. At this point I have zero CFs and a bunch of SDs. My 5DIII was crying out for its CF slot to be filled :(. A couple of these will keep it happy until I can get a deal on something super-fast :D.

I have only used Sandisk, Lexar, Transcend and Kingston before ordering these Maxell's. Never had ANY of these brands of flash memory card fail except Sandisk, and it was their top of the line (at the time) Extreme IV card.
