Well bummer. :( I'm getting an "Forbidden. You don't have permission to access...." error and can't view his site. Anyone else having that problem? Maybe because I'm on my iPad?

Finally got a chance to get out today and shoot something other than counter tops & cork boards. I was not creative with these. Just testing for sharpness and outer perimeter IQ.

Yup, which is why I don't bother with the "Zeiss is best" mantra. I get great results with my Canon lenses and i've yet to see anything that Zeiss can do which my Canon glass can't...more often I find that it's the other way around!

Afraid of manual focus?

These are definitely the best samples I've seen from this lens. The contrast and sharpness is there. Did you process any of these?

Thanks. I really thought I was done without IS. Low light may be an issue but I'm not afraid to shoot high ISO with FF. All taken with my 5D3.

Nothing for colour, etc. Added a bit of clarity and vibrance. Left the sharpening @ 25 using ACR. I did do final sharpening using my action based on my favourite method for each shot.

^Nice test shots. I really like the shovel shot; it's an interesting nicely composed shot, yet shows off the lens' rendering qualities. Every little particle in the dirt seems crisply resolved. All-in-all the lens looks good at both 24 and 70 to my eyes.

On a side note, birds are really popular in this thread! Sometimes I have to check to make sure I'm not in the EF 400mm f/5.6L USM thread by mistake! :)

Birds are my gear test subjects especially when testing a telephoto lens. Eyes, beaks and claws tell you right away.

Would you post the crop of the dump truck, without any processing please?
By the way, your tutorial on sharpening is very informative, thanks.

Manual focus? I grew up with manual focus? Afraid of it? No, but Julian...welcome to 2012...all my lenses have pretty good AF, except my 2 TSE's :D
