I respect a business like Adorama and B&H amongst others who live strictly by their creed. I've been dealing with both companies for years and you learn quickly to read their schedules to determine when they will be closed for religious reasons.

Others don't close like J&R, but I personally don't fault anyone for sticking to their beliefs. They are both Awesome companies with outstanding customer support... when they are open.

Don't worry, they'll be back and helpful for you next week.

+1 and why anyone would stay on the phone for that long is beyond me, like others have said hang-up and try again. I have always received prompt and excellent customer service from Adorama.

Best, Bruce

This was my first time having a customer service concern with an order placed through Adorama. All of my previous transactions went well and I never had a reason to contact the customer service department until now.

I checked their website to see if they were open prior to placing a call. Once I viewed the hours listed on their site stating the customer service department was open, I placed the call.

The reason I waited for a long time on hold was to give them the benefit of the doubt of high volume calls due to the holiday... I'm glad you always receive prompt and excellent service from them. I guess I just got the short end of the stick today. :-| I know every company isn't perfect but I'm really hoping they come through on Wednesday.

Either way I will make sure to keep you all posted... This is market watch after all.

I can tell you - unless it's a Jewish owned company (and sometimes not even then), Jews don't automatically get all of these holidays off - and most of the time, you have to use personal/vacation days for them.

Hi. I'm Mona, and this is my gear:

Canon Rebel T3i with kit lens (18-55); Canon 50mm 1.8 (Nifty Fifty, indeed!); Tamron 17-50 2.8 (non-VC); Sigma 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 II DC OS.
Canon G12

I'm just starting out, but you gotta start somewhere, right?

Adorama and B&H amongs others are Hassidic Jews. They take Jewish holy days VERY VERY seriously. But they also take honesty and integrity as seriously.. and I have been pleased to spend tens of thousands of dollars with them over the last 20 years.

No complaints from here. I can deal with the holy days because they are always top notch when the ARE working.

Yawn. Adorama (and B&H) are still the best places to buy from!

Go buy your lens at Best Buy, pay $500 more, and get even worse customer service.

I never did understand why the biggest and most successful camera stores on planet earth are all Jewish owned.

I can vouch for that. My wife use to work for a big name houseware company and it was owned/run by Jewish people. When it was a Jewish holiday, the company is still open but those who worked there and was Jewish had to take personal/vacation days.

I never knew Einstein was Jewish or a part of the history of Photography so that's interesting to know.

I'm glad it was enlightening. I learned a few things from that webpage also. ;)

Thanks! I sent Helen an email and it was reviewed over the holiday. I just received notification from their claims department today. Hoping my concerns get resolved soon but so far I have been receiving better communication through email versus over the phone.

Wow...
Thanks for posting that Helen.
You should re-post it in a new thread in the general forum.
I would, but I don't want to steal your thunder.
