I shoot Auto WB all the time (in RAW). Then, it seems to give me more shots that don't need WB tweaks in Lightroom. It's easy to tweak them when needed, but it's even easier to not tweak them. LOL

True. It was me just not thinking. Whats really a drag is shooting at night. The color shifts because of the lights flickering at 60Hz. no matter what setting I use, the color is always off at the fields I shoot night games.

Tonights game is at one of the worst fields for night lighting. Absolutely dreadful.

Thanks. I have the option to buy it. The images turned out well as far as IQ goes, but I'm still on the fence. My 7D gives me great IQ but the reach I get with it is important. Being that I dont have a 300 or 400mm, I need all the reach I can get. But I really did like that 1D3. Great camera.

Thanks. I got a lot better shots last night. I actually shot from one knee rather than standing up. I'm hoping that once I get them on the computer they are considerably better.

Sometimes I feel I don't have enough reach with my 70-200, but I know if I get a good shot I can crop a bit.

Here's my shots from last nights game. Shot from one knee tonight and liked it a lot better. I feel these are better. Still gotta watch my horizon lines though

A few flashed pics from Thurs. night. I am not liking the shadows from the flash mounted below on the monopod. I think I will try to rig it up for the flash above the lens to try and get some more natural looking shadows. Going without flash is not an option as this field is 25600, 2.8, 1/400 for exposure without flash.

You have the dream combo. 1DX and 400 2.8:cool:. Great shots, but I'm not a fan of low flash. Like you said, the shadow does look more normal with the flash mounted above lens.

I would think you could shout anywhere
at 3200 1/500 2/8

even my 40 d will do that

A 1dx should be a lot better than a 40d
