Pretty spectacular scenery here in the fall, I've made 3 consecutive fall trips to Kebler Pass, and 2 to the San Juan Mountains, I'm sure I'll do another one next fall. Here is a fairly conventional shot from Kebler Pass about 10 days ago. Image hosted by forum (618583) © patrick j [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. As I told my brother when he came out last week from Minnesota for a little hiking and photography - We really have great raw material to work with out here.

I am actually coming out to Boulder for a business trip at the end of November, and will be bringing my camera gear and ski gear. Looking forward to it, and will stay a few extra days to ski and do some Colorado photography. I think photography is more difficult in the winter, or maybe I don't know what I'm doing, anyway, I don't seem to get much in the winter.

It's beautiful though. I take a photo backpack with tripod attached, put all that over my ski gear, head to the highest back-mountain double black diamond run I can find, and usually pull off somewhere in the middle of it and setup. Part of my problem in winter is limited access to the good stuff. Skiing would help with that problem, but I'm a non-skier.

It was our first visit to Colorado and we loved it. I don't ski any more, but the one thing about winter is that the sun rises that much later so I don't have to get up at 4am and still catch the sunrise. The other thing is that there are more clouds in the morning sky than the typical (but not all) summer sunrises. All that and the cooler air makes for much nicer sunrise shots. Edward Jenner

It's harder and harder to get out with the kids growing up and having so much on the weekends, but we got up to Estes mid September just before the peak. The aspen forests are great. Blue gold and green is nice, but I do miss the more multicolored falls I grew up with (in the UK). Image hosted by forum (619149) © ejenner [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. There are a lot of good spots within 60-90 minutes (drive + hike) of Denver/FC/CS. I guess it's not exactly high peak photography though. I do sometimes get out, one of my favorite pictures came from a winter climb of Grizzly Peak D (below) a couple of winters ago, but those are kind of tough days. I do want to try to get out more this winter, my photography grinds to a halt in the winter, want to put a stop to that. (you've got some nice stuff up there on flickr, btw).
