Somebody had to have captured something this summer worth posting!

I've only shot 2 competitions but I've had a blast doing it. One was a Frisbee competition, so I'll put some of those up too. The first pic I got published in our local paper.

I love this shot... too bad about the creepy cougar in the background...

This one was from my first time out with my 70-200... I learned that shooting at f/4 isn't very forgiving for something that moves this fast.

Glad to see this thread resurected. I took some pictures at the AKC Agility Nationals this year (March) but I only had my 70-200 2.8 for a week and didn't have my 7d yet. My poor little T1i just couldn't handle it with the terrible lighting in the arena. Now that I have the perfect Agility rig, I need to hit a couple events and try it again.

And don't forget to post them here!
And thank you, Lobstrosity, for sharing. Very nice captures! That second one is amazing.

Black, hairy, and fast... in that order. If the dog is all three, fa git about it!

Funny thing, it's exactly the opposite with me. The tiny ones I find much easier to shoot, as long as I can get a good position.

Case in point: Lenox

These were taken a while back, but I've always enjoyed shooting at agility trials... especially when there were the Bouvier breed is running. One of our litters produced a Bouvier that was ranked #2 in the country for several years and even at 10 years old she was blowing away Boarder Collies in the ring.

Here are a few shots I got a various shows of other dogs...

They don't have as many agility trails in the Northwest as they use to and when they do a lot of them are inside barns or arenas. Since you can't use flash (even when they allow it you still shouldn't use it) it's more difficult to get good shots. Even when out doors is seems the agility committee never considers photography when they set up their rings. Ether all the good action obstacles are on the other side of the ring behind everything, you are shooting into the sun most of the day, the background is the worst it could possibly be, the direction they run is away from you rather than towards you, or all the above. :D It's still a lot of fun.

NOT EXACTLY WHAT YOU EXPECTED...

Our friend's Maltese, Sarah, is the first and only female Maltese to achieve MACH in AKC agility trials. The ribbon is for the win and the PVC pipe is a commemorative jump bar signed by all the owners showing their dogs. Our friend wanted the PVC included because she says that it is an integral part of attaining that level of agility performance.

Sarah looks appropriately proud of her achievement. She's probably thinking, eat your hearts out border collies, I'm a MACH!

Yes, a MACH is indeed an awesome accomplishment and the bar is a very important part of that recognition! Congratulations to Sarah and her people!

Having 4 Maltese, but no knowledge of Agility training/events, I had to go look up MACH.
WOW!
