They're clearly digital, maybe too much post processing? Most have very little tonality and too much detail in the blacks. All are taken with a very small aperture so everything is in focus with no selective plane of focus. They look sort of unreal to me...

HUH to much detail in the blacks? Usually a lack of dynamic range is the usual complaint with digital so more detail means more range thus more film like. Less range means to much contrast and blocked shadow a clear low DR issue and thats a clearly more digital.

I understand what you're saying, I used to use a Fuji S5 for the DR as it was so film-like. It's my personal preference for blacks to be black though and I like contrast but just not with this level of detail. There's too much to look at, at least for me.

A full range print is good blacks and good highlights but there should still be some detail. Lack of detail is usually a lack of dynamic range and though you have solid blacks to. And personal preference is just that but you said because of the detail in the blacks is was not a film look and I would argue that because it does have the detail it is more of a film look as apposed to a digital look which is less range and the monochrome has range much closer to B&W film than other 135 format digital cameras before it.

I'm debating whether or not to pick up a Leica M6 for a little over $100. I'm afraid of the potential disease I might acquire from owning such a camera. :p

You got a line on an M6 for $100? Buy it and sell it for a grand or more.

What Allen said.

Buy it, try it out and see if you like it - you may love it and get a lot out of the camera.

If not, you could easily sell it for between $1k - $1.3k depending on condition!

Thinking I'm going to pick up a 35 Biogon and 50 Planar. I'm stuck in Africa for another week, but luckily the person I purchased the M9 from is delaying shipment until I get home so I can be there to sign for it. So still tossing around the idea of what lenses I will get for another week before I order them. I look forward to traveling with a much lighter package instead of lugging my canon stuff around the world, will be using the m9 and x-pro during my 3 weeks in the Philippines this month.

justinz850, that's awesome! I'm looking forward to seeing how you like the M9 combined with the XPRO1.

I know there's lot's of glass to choose from, but one piece of glass i'm very interested in (if i'm ever fortunate enough to own an M9, M-E, etc) is the Voigtlander Nokton Aspherical 35mm f/1.2 II for $1399 (external link). Here's a nice review of the lens. (external link) BH has a used one.

Have fun with your new camera!
