Not sure if this is the right thread, so please move if need be.
With that being said, I'm looking for advice on how to start getting into local photography shows. I really know nothing about them. Are there sites devoted to upcoming events etc? I mostly shoot architecture and landscapes.

I'm at the point where I think I need to start pushing myself more to get better. I think entering them in local shows will be a good source of critique/feedback. I am also hoping it will force me out of my comfort zone to try new subjects/materials.

I am in Chicago if that helps and can drive to the surrounding suburbs if need be. I am not exactly looking to make a career out of this, but the ultimate goal is to maybe get some extra spending money out of photos if they sell to go towards gear etc.
So, if any of you have ideas on how to approach this, or know of some organizations in my area to test the waters, it would be greatly appreciated.

Let me know if this is too vague or if it seems like I'm missing something.

Oh ok cool, you might have to mix it up with the art galleries in Cub-Town...
you know like in NYC SO-HO areas. There should be alot of outlets in Chicago.
Check out any loacl camera clubs too that might have some info.

I used to do wedding shows but got my info from the mall office, then event people there on site for the upcoming shows..

Local camera clubs generally have low-key competitions at their monthly meetings - a good way to get your feet wet showing your work, and getting it critiqued. Look for them with Google and meetup.com.
