Nice shots 360...Looking good. After shooting wide angle of fall color and the milky way last weekend with the 16-35 L II (rented), I just ordered the Tokina 16-28 AT-X Pro FX. I really liked how the LII performed however the cost is too high. I was using a Sigma 10-20 f4-5.6 on my 7D for a LONG time.
It will be on a 5D Mark III for wide shots. Everyone is talking about the flaring....That 16-35 flared too...I never use CPL's on wide shots. Would be nice to have a UV on there but all in all no bigge. I was shooting the 16-35 WO a filter..Anyway. Cant Wait!

I used to own 16-35 II, and it flared, too, as you said. But it never wowed me. May be the cost had something to do with it. Tokina 16-28 ‘seems’ sharper, with rich colors and contrast. I realize the ‘experts’ would perhaps disagree, but Tokina is a better lens. At least, to me it is.

May be you lose the speed of AF, although, Tokina is only marginally worse than the Canon. Tokina is heavier, no doubt. And Tokina doesn’t take filters. But for my money, I am glad I have the Tokina.

Getting some great shots. I tested the flair this morning on the morning sunrise. I do see the rainbow for sure at different f stops its more apparant. Not sure if I like it of not......The standard flair is nothing new to me, I dont think its THAT much different then others of this quality.. Other then that I think it takes great shots, good color, contrast, very sharp. I found myself using it alot today out shooting fall color. I'll get some posted after the weekend passes, perhaps sunday evening.

I rarely see the flare, but I I like it when I do. Either the short segments of rainbows around lights, or longer cross lens flares when there's a bright light shining into the lens. It may not enhance most portraits or nature shots, but for club shots, it's fantastic.

Thanks.

The rebate makes this excellent lens even a better deal. I got one before they started. :-(

Me too.

I've heard that there's a "second generation" lens cap for this thing. I did some searching and couldn't find much on it. Anyone know where I could get one? My cap won't stay on for anything.
