It's funny reading all the complaints about this lens in the Nikon forums.

Apparently anything other than 2.8 isn't "pro" enough for many of those chaps. And somehow creating a lens for a target market really hurts the feelings of those not in the target market, because it isn't for them. What a clown show...

Kinda like when the 1Dx was announced without f/8 AF, or the EOS-M, or the.....

;)

Still short of a 400 5.6 option, but I am sure that will come one day.

I think 50 1.2 would be more popular, there are no creamy bokeh 50mm in the current lineup
85 1.2G will be cool but 85 1.4G already fill it's role pretty well. But I will buy 1.2 for bragging right!

Agreed. I tried the Nikon 50mm f/1.8D, 1.8G, and 1.4G, and ended up getting the Sigma 50mm 1.4 for Nikon mount (I used to have one for my 5D).

Though the Nikkor 50mm lenses are quite sharp (especially the 1.8G/1.4G), the bokeh is ghastly.

The Sigmalux produces much creamier bokeh IMO.

Here's a comparison test:

Sigma @ 1.4:

Quote"The new Nikon 70-200mm f/4 lens that is expected to be announced next week will probably start shipping at the end of November, 2012. The price of the lens is expected to be in the $1,000-$1,300 range (depending on your local currency). I do not have the exact US price yet."

That is not bad at all for a newly designed zoom lens. I think that is fairly reasonable. :)

Nikon might release a limited edition light gray and black color lens just to keep new dark side users at ease. ;)

Wtf, Canon 70-200 f4is has excellent optics and costs like 1000. What do you want to drop 500 more for?

Fuji XE-1, Zeiss ikon, Hasselblad; I love shooting film as a conceptual idea :)

Newer optics will always be better, and the price reflects it. Just look at 24-70 II
And 70-200 f/4 IS $1,199.00 on BH not $1000

It's called nervous bokeh, most Nikon lenses have it :).
