Is anyone using a Pelican 1434 Top Load case for their 100-400mm, or 70-200 with the body attached.

Interior specs are:
13.56 x 5.76 x 11.70" (34.44 x 14.63 x 29.72cm) (LxWxH)
Top lid depth: 2.0" (5.08 cm)
Bottom depth: 9.7" (24.64cm)

Which should be just big enough, with a 1/2" padding on top and bottom. It sounds like the body would protrude a bit with the lid open (with camera stuffed in lens down).

Would like to see some pictures if anyone is using this case.

Thanks!

I have with the 70-200 which is the only one you mention in my collection.
I use a drop in insert in the 1430 which I bought w/o foam and it is a nice fit.

I don't have one set up like this right now but I will se if I can get a pic over the weekend for you?

Hey thanks!

I'm wonder which would be more convenient the top loader or regular suitcase style. I'm wanting to have the body+lens ready to go in the pelican. It'll have to ride around in the back of the truck, or on my kayak and just about everything in between.

I like the idea of the 1434 case, but having to dig for something stored down low in the case would irritate me. I use a 1450, there is plenty of room for the 60D with 70-200 mounted along with another two lenses and my flash or my hoods. With everything i keep in the 1450 case I can't leave the 70-200 mounted.
