Came home and found a package on the table, Wifey bought me the Canon 70-200 F4. L series.
I was a lil bummed when I saw it wasn't the IS version, but after using it this past weekend, I am really liking this piece of equipment. I can only imagine how nice the 2.8 IS model is, Not heavy by any means, can hold for a bit without shake. Over all Im more than happy..

What an awesome wife ... you should buy her some flowers, and to show how much you care, don't take photos of them, haha.

I only use it for sport + landscape with tripod + running animal, so non IS version is fine with me.

Then you have a winner. I must say given these applications, 70-200 is very nice- value lens. I shot 70-200 at 200 mm at 1/100 using a tripod-monopod and it is tack-sharp, no problem at all. I don't automatically use the 70-200 as a portrait lens but when it happens to be on the body, it can do portrait fine.

Only one reason to upgrade then. The IS version is sharper. Its not the same lens with IS tacked on but an upgraded optical design.
