Kinda like rote learning. In photography, one of the choices in making a photo the way you want it is the DOF. The decision as to the aperture controls that. If the camera makes the decision, it is affecting, very obviously, the way the image looks. Thus, it is making creative decisions as to the way the image ends up. You might not like why or how it makes that decision, but that's entirely beside the point. But creativity requires human (or perhaps animal input). The machine by itself can not make a creative decision. It can make a programmed decision based on factors that impact an image, but there is no creativity involved.
