Strange problem this weekend - was trying to photograph fungi, low light conditions so set camera to manual expecting to have quite a long exposure time.

The 5D2 would not let me scroll to a shutter speed less than 1/30.

I took battery out, put it back in & worked ok - shutter speed 15 sec etc

However, a few minutes later, same thing happened again.

Any ideas? Or repair time?

Were you using live view at the time?

If so all you need to do is go to menu Live view-Movie func. \ LV Func setting, and if you are using Stills and Movie setting, then you need to change it from Movie display to Exposure simulation.

Hope this helps.

Ah- never thought of that.

It only happened when I was trying to use live view (which I don't usually)

I do find live view in the 7D a lot easier to use than on the 5D2.

I have never had a problem that this Forum can't solve - many thanks!

No probs.

I had the same experience last week and lost a nice shot through it, but at least it has taught me to always carry the instruction manual in my bag.
