Hi there folks.

I’ve made myself a little website and wondered if you would be so kind as to provide me with a teeny tiny bit of feedback/critique.

http://www.alexmatravers.co.uk (external link)

If I’m honest the website was more of a learning process/bit of fun rather then a business venture but I’m quite happy with how it turned out. I wanted it to be simple to use, instantly recognisable and light hearted. The gallery is a little bare at the moment but I’m working on that as we speak  .

It’s a work in progress so if you have any think criticisms please feel free to voice them as they will be taken on board.

Cheers,
Alex

I'm new myself so I'm not sure how much my opinion counts for, but here we go anyways :) Also, I didn't read the content, just looked at how it looks...

- I like the design over all. Definitely fun / lighthearted / memorable.
- I especially like your random half-face on the side. It makes me laugh so I'd like your site immediately because of that.
- The bit at the top on your home page about "alex he takes photos" etc is really hard to read. If you want to leave it like that, maybe unbold it?
- I don't know what kind of photography you do. You should put that in the header and/or on the home page somewhere so it is obvious what it is that you're trying to do.
- I'd use bigger font or more space between lines in the blog. The white on black/all squished together like that is okay for a short "about me" but if you want someone to browse a blog their eyes are going to hurt pretty fast.
- the "bored?" page doesn't load for me.

I like it, nice and simple to navigate and easy to read.
As above though, the "bored" page doesn't load.

Brilliant if this is your first ever website?

It is indeed my first :)

Thank you both for the kind words and the critique.

Rachel, I will take all your comments on board and give it a tidy up. Thank you for the tips. I will have a look at the writing at the top of the page and see if it's easier to read if I unbolden it. I will also mess around with the blog/about me font and try and make it a little easier to read.

I'm a little disapointed that my 'Bored?' page is working correctly, I will have a fiddle with it and see if I can get it going. It's a jigsaw puzzle using one of my images

Thank you both,
Alex

I've made a few changes to the website :)

Firstly I've changed the font size of the writing above the title so it’s a little larger and hopefully a little easier to read. I’ve made the font of both the about me page and Blog a little larger which again should make it a little easier on the eyes. I’ve also corrected a few grammatical errors from the about me page.

Not only that but I’ve also added a new post to my blog if anyone is interested in having a little read. It’s my first blog and I must admit that I struggle a little to put my thoughts into words. Hopefully it may cause a little amusement to some and might even be a little useful for those looking at purchasing a few bits and bobs. Let me know what you think.

I’ve tried to improve the reliability of the Bored? page but I’m not sure how successful I have been. Would you mind having a little look and letting me know if it loads or not? I would really appreciate it. If you could let me know if it works for you and what browser and operating system you are using that would awesome.

Cheers folks,
Alex

It took two tries to load your 'Bored?' page, but it worked. I wasn't bored, so I didn't try to complete the puzzle, but maybe later.
