Hi folks,

I just got my new Canon 17-40L from US, it is all good except for one thing - when using zoom ring it makes a squeaky sound mostly heard between 24-28mm. It is not loud, but I still can hear it. Zoom is smooth.

Has anyone experienced same thing? How bad is it?

My lens is from US with US/Canada limited warranty...meaning if it fails I'm screwed. :(

I had the same "issue" with an 8 year old 17-40 I bought used. Bothered me at the time but it's gone away now.

Try using it a bit more .. either that or wear earplugs.

I've had mine 5 years and I can't remember it ever making any noise.
