I am in northern Maryland and I doubt I get much sleep tonight. We are surrounded by 90-100 foot oak trees and a few still have their leaves that are acting as sails. We have one tree down already in the woods and the winds are really just starting. I did take before shots yesterday and hopefully the after shots aren’t that interesting. Crazy thing is to our west above 2000 feet they are having a blizzard! Everyone stay safe!

I saw the post headline and wondered how you were able to get photos of the beginning middle and end of sandy considering it has just barely made landfall. Nevermind LOL

I'm thousands of miles away in the UK, although there is much media coverage (Fox, CNN, Bloomberg etc). I can't emagine your fears.

Stay safe all.

i'm sitting in the house right in the center of the hurricane as it's passing by the last hour or so; it's been raining and very high wind... hopefully we can get through without too much damages.

Southern NJ here, not quite ground[fall] zero but a little too close. Suddenly at about 5:30 PM the wind dropped except for a few gusts, nothing like 3pm and 4pm, and the rain pretty much stopped. I would say we are in the eye, except I don't think there is an eye and if there is, it isn't here.

I went outside for a very short stroll. It smells wonderfull! All those leaves and tree parts torn off and swirled around, I guess.

I want a patent for a camera that captures smells as well as pictures.

North of Boston as well, its howling, but no more so than a good Noreaster.
Took a drive up and down the coast fron Salem to Gloucester, and really didn't find the waves that large.
Had my camera, but really didn't feel like ruining it considering the drenching rain.
Pulled a few trees down and made the lights flash a bit. Nasty, but overall not too bad here, compared to others.

Great captures! I hope you made out okay last night. I see that NY got hit pretty bad by the winds and tidal surge.

Hope everyone is okay. No one else has any pics they were able to snap? There's something different about seeing photos posted by people who actually took them in comparison to the ones you see on the news.

Took a few more shots of coney island.i've seen cars and buses all over the place. i know this is nothing compared to a hurricane like Irene but this is insane for new york.
Tomorrow im planning on heading to manhattan, want to see how "bad" it is there 2 days later.
