JM_2, great photos. May I ask where you took them? I need to take a trip up to western MD.

Thanks very much. The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad runs from Cumberland, MD to Frostburg, MD. The Great Allegheny Passage hiking and biking trail runs along side the track, so it's possible to get some great shots of the train up close. If you familiarize yourself with the route and the hiking trail, you can chase the train and get shots in two or three locations each way.

My first shot was taken near the Patty Baker Road crossing, the second along the Narrows. This was only our second time photographing the train along the route, so we're still learning. WMSR does photo freights, which we'd like to try. The train is chartered by a group of photographers for the day, travels to key locations along the route, drops the photographers, then does several runbys for photographs. The conductor told us they may have one in December.

rcarlton, that's an awesome shot. Looks like it's straight out of a cowboy movie. Love it!

Not the greatest shot, but I like how you can see the intensity of the fire reflected in the fireman's face.

Was taken while I was out on a senior shoot a few weeks back. We were up on a bridge when we noticed it heading right towards us.

When you see my camera gear you'll think I'm a pro.
When you see my photos you'll know that I'm not.

That has just the right amount of motion blur IMO, and I think it is a very nice shot.
